Number of designated national treasures and important cultural properties

Kansai has numerous artworks, crafts and structures that are designated national treasures and important cultural properties. It is a region with the greatest concentration of cultural assets in Japan with around half of all national treasures and important cultural properties, including many historical buildings, artworks and crafts that are also valued by the entire world.
